Marrickville Wine Company is a passion project conceived in 2007 by a band of brothers brought together by their love for the art of making wine like their Mediterranean ancestors. They are the new old world winemakers. They have gained the appreciation of friends and family who are only too happy to share the fruits of their labours.
Project Amphora is the initiative of two Greek friends using a traditional earthenware amphora to produce a limited volume 320 bottles per vintage. Grapes are crushed and fermented in open vats for 12 days on skins and then gently basket pressed. The free run juice is then aged on skins for another 60 days in the amphora to extract colour and develop flavour. The label reflects this hand-crafted quality.

The French term Garagiste refers to small-scale, artisanal winemaking by those outside traditional, large-scale systems, often in home garages. It signified a movement toward minimal intervention, boutique production, and terroir-focused wines. This perfectly describes the approach favoured by these Marrickville artisans who select a region and grape variety each year in order to produce a hand crafted wine to add to the series.
